The daughter of Penelope and Bill, Strong was born in Springfield, Illinois and grew up in Oar Park, Illinois. Even at an early age, Strong already has a fascination with comedy and the show “Saturday Night Live” having watched the older episodes on tape, which was one reason why during high school she transferred to the Chicago Academy for the Arts, from Oak Park and River Forest High School, to hone her skills. In college, she attended the California Institute of the Arts, (CalArts) to become an actress and graduated with a degree in theatre. To further her education in her field, she went back to her hometown in Chicago to study at the Second City Conservatory and iO Chicago.
Her career started as a stand-up comedian, performing at various theatres and other events including Chicago Sketch Fest, New York Sketch Fest, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Bailiwick Theatre and Mercury Theatre. She was also a member of the Virgin Daiquiri, an all-girl improve group. Her days as a stand-up comedian tremendously helped in her career and net worth, and eventually landed her a job in the show “Saturday Night Live”.
In 2012, Strong became part of the long-running variety comedy show “Saturday Night Live”. Her presence in the show as part of the weekly segment “Weekend Update” with partner Seth Meyers became a huge hit among audience. Later on in the show, Strong also showed her writing prowess when she co-wrote and performed “The Girl You Wish You Hadn’t Started a Conversation With at a Party” and “The Girlfriend Talk Show”, among other well-received sketches.
Strong also became popular for her impeccable impressions of various celebrities, including Allison Williams, Ariana Grande, Sofia Vergara, Fran Drescher, Khloe Kardashian, Lana Del Rey, Megyn Kelly, Gloria Estefan, Maria Bartiromo, Melania Trump, and Carly Fiorina. Today, Strong is still part of “Saturday Night Live” and her success in the show has tremendously helped in her net worth.
Strong still occasionally performs stand-up comedy, and most recently became active in film. In just 2015 her movies included “The Bronze”, “Slow Learners”, “The Meddler”, and “Staten Island Summer”. She also lent her voice on the show “The Awesome”. Strong will also be a part of the much anticipated remake of the classic film “Ghostbusters” set to be released in 2016.
A major boost was her invitation to perform at the Correspondents’ White House Dinner in 2015, which was extremely well received, even though the audience was the target of many of her skits.
In terms of her personal life, Strong is reportedly dating co-star Mike O’Brien.
